Use beans from Kiva Han. Espresso extraction seemed alright, but the milk prep was quite bad. The barista used a spoon to hold the foam back while pouring, and then topped it a large spoonful of the big-bubbled foam. That’s the kind of milk treatment one would expect at certain national coffee chain stores, but not in a real gourmet coffeehouse. This milk-straining practice is a pet-peeve of mine; in almost all cases, it seems very wrong. Additionally, the steaming pitcher also had “2%” written on the side, so I may have even been given the wrong milk as well. But, as said before, the espresso was done alright, so it was drinkable, and probably worth a second trip. Maybe I just got the wrong barista.

I thought saying the espresso was drinkable was pretty generous. Maybe its just my taste buds but it seemed very chemical to me. What i asked for was a traditional cappuccino in the smallest cup they had. A 12 oz coffee mug with some kivahan spro (yeck) and topped with the stiffest foam i’ve ever seen was presented. While I couldn’t drink more than a sip or two the cafe itself seemed like a nice place to bring a friend or a laptop if you can find a clean table.
