Great atmosphere, and the coffee’s alright. I think that if the baristas were just a little more well-trained, the place could be fantastic. There is a shortage of good cafés in the outer main line area, and this place could fill that void if it tried just a wee bit harder.

Has a very “indie/subculture” type of atmosphere. Beans are small–batch roasted, very good. Baristas have performed pretty solidly, know what they‘re doing. Last visit they had like a dozen types of hot cocoa, we had something like an Aztec hot cocoa with cardamom. Easy place to relax. One of the better cafés in Fairfield County that I’ve tried so far.

Latte made it to two sips. Really bad. I don’t want to think about this one anymore.

This place had a load of flavored syrups on display, and an ice cream chest-freezer. And one of the worst lattes I have ever had. The drink was completely botched. If bad coffee were a crime, this place would need a lethal injection. Seriously. And they wonder why New Castle is on the downspin? Bad coffee. Too bad because it is a cute town.

They use beans from La Prima .
Coffee booth in an office building, which is usually a warning sign, but someone had recommended I try it. Woman who prepared latte brewed the espresso first, which ended up sitting for a bit while she steamed the milk, which she did at an angle where she couldn’t have seen the milk in the pitcher (not the most important thing in the world, but it reflects the care she took in preparing the drink). She was steaming almost entirely above the milk at first, and then went in way too deep. Overall, they were working with good equipment and beans, and you could tell they probably at some point knew their stuff, but the actual preparation of drinks was more of an afterthought – and the quality thus suffered because of it. Drink wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. Will probably drop in sometime in the future, maybe caught it on a bad day. Bad days do impair consistency, and I would be hesitant to make this a regular stop – if a barista is careless once, they have been careless once dozens of times. One of the drawbacks of tipping after paying, but before the drink has been made. You can’t smoothly pocket your change, and then put it in the cup after you get your beverage, can you?
